Patron
Saint Margaret of Antioch is the patron saint of the Parish and the Church. She is venerated as a virgin and martyr.
Margaret of Antioch was persecuted as a Christian under the Roman Emperor Diocletian and was executed for refusing to adore the gods of the Empire (around 305). The cult of St. Margaret spread to the west in the 7th century and she later became one of the most popular saints among the laity in medieval England. St. Margaret is one of the Fourteen Holy Helpers, and hers was one of the voices heard by Joan of Arc. Her feast day is July 20th.
